What for:
Even for youth it is not always easy to draw a personal timeline with all the important developments in life. That is why in this exercise SP Advisors have to emphasise the reflection on milestones in life.

INDIVIDUALLY, IN PAIRS, IN PLENARY
DURATION:
60-90 min
OBJECTIVES:
To reflect on experiences in private life, education and work.
METHODOLOGY:
In atmosphere of concentration and reflection participants get to know this task. It must be clearly explained what should be present in the timeline.
MATERIALS AND RESOURCES NEEDED:
Big sheets of papers, colourful pens, possibly also relaxing music.
STEP BY STEP PROCESS:
1. Division of materials
2. Explaining tasks
3. Discussion with other participants (in pairs)
4. Discussion in plenary about the impressions
5. Comment from the trainers (if such weren’t mentioned by participants themselves): competencies acquired in life do not only come from work experience, it is important to realise that learning comes from private life as well.
OUTCOMES:
General overview of individual pathway, understanding the magnitude of experiences they have and to share, open for other people in talking about complicated subjects.
EVALUATION:
The task was well and carefully carried out by the participants. Some were surprised how much experience they already had, some had problems identifying milestones in their individual pathway. Having undertaken courses in job centres some participants knew what
NOTES FOR FURTHER USE:
Preparing more materials will allow for more creative approach (sheets of paper, woollen balls, glue, smaller pieces of colourful paper and so on). Please let the people reflect on their own, give them enough time for summary and observe their behaviour asking additional questions, if necessary.
